History of fountain pen ink
Before the first fountain pen was invented in the 19th century in France, fountain pen ink has existed for a long time together with quill pens. It is used for dipping ink until the first quill pen with an ink reservoir appears in the 17th century.
Archival-quality and highly water-resistant ink
Whether you use fountain pens for daily writing, drawings or signature for important documents, the most important thing is that your documents or artworks will survive if an accident happens. The type of pigment-based ink will help you. Thanks to the features of the pigment particles, the ink is highly water-resistant and lightfast. However, please note that no fountain pen ink can be fully waterproof.
The only downside of the pigment ink is that they require a regular cleaning than dye-based ink. The pigment ink may clog up the feed if it is left inside the pen. We recommend cleaning your pen once a month.
